Its not very expensive either.

If you've got an Android phone or tab, and the correct usb cable, you can use an app called DSLRcontroller to do full control of Canon DSLRs through the phone/tab including liveview. I haven't taken my laptop out when shooting since I discovered it!

Vixen Polarie

Mike
Great test shots and good experimenting. I have recently been looking at buying one of these and that's the sort of information I needed to make my decision. I definitely want one now.
Well done.

The original OP made the post back in 2012. Since then though there's been a plethora of other options. The Unitec SWAT series, Toast Pro, and most recently the Kenko Sky Memo S Tracker comes to mind (has a port for auto guider even).

Still sticking to the Polarie, here's the setup i've got at the moment :-

Sean,

Wow, what is that contraption that usually goes around the front/drive of the Polarie? Where can I get one?

It's a Japanese brand (sorry website only in Japanese) :-

http://telesco-factory.ocnk.net/

They take pre-orders certain schdules of the month (quarter??). So far local delivery only however I heard you may be able to get them through OptCorp (in the US??).
