Santa is bringing a QSI683

Hi All

Lucky me. Santa is bringing a new QSI683

I have had it in a cupboard for some time but SWMBO says it come with Santa.

Now I will have to take extra care with my polar aligning.

Just a small question. If I have a calibrated digital level and set my altitude from that, ie 33.7, should I still drift in dec?

Seasons greetings to you all.

Harry

Definitely Greg. The digital level is a great helper to get you "in the ball park" but you should then have an iterative process for getting much closer. To adjust altitude, you'll need to drift on a zero Dec star 15-30 degrees above either horizon.

Or you could use something like Alignmaster.

I admire your self discipline in resisting the temptation to sneak it out on to the telescope :-)

I don't have a lot of self discipline, just fear of SOMBO

I have however managed to sneak out the new guide camera.

There's also a Feathertouch electronic focuser for my birthday.

Can't be too impatient.
