20D mirror lock up - help please

Page 88 of my manual says that providing C-Fn is set to 1 this will work,
as one presses the shutter button the mirror locks up, after a very brief
interval the exposure is taken and the mirror flips back down.
I have been using, very happily, a Canon Timer remote Controller TC80N3
on my EOS300, which does not of course have a mirror lock up facility.
This allows me to take a sequence of spaced, times exposures. OK it
work on the 20D, but I suspect that the mirror lock up does not work
with this.
Anyone with any experience of how to use an 80N3 for sequence with
Mirror lock up ?

I love the TC80N3 and use it all the time but as you say, it doesn't allow for mirror l/up.

A little trick I use is to set the 20Da's self timer on (2 sec delay).

Now set the sequence of exposures on the TC80N3 you want to take but take into account the 2 sec delay and add it to the length of each exposure.

You will hear the mirror lock up, the little white light will come on for 2 sec and then the exposure will commence.

Just allow sufficient time between shots for the camera to settle and you're away.

Same as RB here (2 sec delay) - but it might also pay to cover the white light with a small piece of black electricians tape, just in case you are out with viewers who don't want the odd stray flash of white light.

Gerald - how have you been going with the 20D and AF chip? I hope it is all coming together for you.

All the best.
