last night i managed to capture NGC6067 with comet panstarrs c2016m1 paying a visit. Comets are hard to stack and this one is moving fast- hence i didn't try in this shot but i have some data that i can try stacking on the comet with 2h22min worth of 30 and 60 sec shots. unguided with the RASA 11" and the ASI071 colour camera
thanks, i am not as accomplished like Cometcatcher and cant manage to stack on the comet yet. partly because there are 220 images to align with 5, 10 , 30 and 60 second images. the seeing on the night was extremely poor as well and i could visibly see the stars being soft
Nice shot Dave and I was really impressed with your M20 in the Aus S&T well done.
Cheers Derek
Thanks Derek, i have lots to learn about processing in PI and will be seeking wisdom from the grandmaster at astrofest but his guidance helped me get more from the image
Enjoying the now quite steady stream of images, coming from what was a rather idle observatory for some time Houghy...you must be pretty pleased all round?

I am as happy as a pig in photons/eerrrr mud!!!!!
one of my issues is i cant guide in the dome, and the dome isn't set up to be fully autonomous i have to tweak the figures to align the slit generally. the guide scope gets obscured with the slit now i do know i have to tweak my polar alignment
however at astrofest i will be free, free to swing it anywhere guiding to my hearts content..........can you possibly imagine the sense of pleasure i will get with 2, 3 , 4, 5 minute imaging
one huge issue is temperature, every 5 degrees means a refocus - and its critical so which i figured is 2h max on every object except the helix, i going to nail that big bad boy and spend 4 0r 5 hours on it with 5 minute subs.
so I hope to have in the bag at least 5 objects a night x 7 nights...... and i can see the farmer Hoggitt saying "that'll do pig, that'll do....."
