The Witch Head Nebula in HaLRGB from Chile - APO_Team

Hi everyone !

It's been a long time since our last visit in your forum...
We missed you... but we're back

Nothing has changed in our setup and it is working perfectly, almost 20 nights every month

Here is IC2118, the Witch Head Nebula. This is a 2 pictures mosaic.
We have added some H-alpha because we thought it could be a good idea... and it was ! Actually, this part of the sky is full of Ha but we are not used to see the Witch with red. We are more used to bleu

Ok, here are all technical informations:
- APO observatory in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile - Alain Maury's Space Obs
- Takahashi TOA 150 refractor
- mini-OHP mount with MCMT
- Apogee Alta U16M camera
- Astrodon L R G B Gen2 filters
- Ha=10x40' - L=24x20' and R=G=B=6x20' - everything x2
- shooting, guiding and preprocess: PRISM v9
- process: IRIS, PRISM v9 & CS6

Link to the picture in normal size: http://www.atacama-photographic-obse...hoto.php?id=25

And a must see: the full sized image !!

See you soon for some new pictures...
We won't be that long

Wow - that's great & it goes really deep -
on the full size version - I can see dozens if not hundreds of tiny galaxies in the background -
many of grand spiral design.
Do more!

cheers
Allan

Thanks alpal !
You're right, the background is full of things to discover... and as you said, some of the galaxies have a nice spiral shape !
We'll do more, for sure !

Fantastic. The red from the Ha makes for a wonderful backdrop to the image.

Thank you all !!
That's right, the H-alpha is adding something to the picture.
And it's strange to see the Witch Head only in blue after that
