Sony QX1, anybody ?

Saw this over the weekend - http://www.dpreview.com/articles/131...or-smartphones

Ok so it doesn't have a cooled sensor and exposures are limited to 30 seconds, but at a RRP under $1k here ($400 RRP in the us plus the usual gouging in our market) it seems interesting for some applications, compared to astronomical heads costing more than 5x as much.

For the price I would have thought that a dslr would have worked better for almost any application. I can just see it now, 29 secs into a sub a phone calls vibration ruins it.

Yeah you're right if lowest cost is the primary criterion, as always a cheap DSLR wins over anything else.
