CFN shows a good night in Sydney tonight for imaging and observing before the moon gets up too high
Calm conditions and low jet stream
Get out early if you can before the moon gets up to high towards midnight
Enjoy !
I’m on the train home and the eastern suburbs look clear, but there’s a lot of smoke over the western suburbs (my office) and I would expect this will spoil the fun.
Last night no stars at all visible from my place...
There’s 6 to 8 km/hr light north easter blowing until after midnight then it swings around to the north west
The smoke haze it suppose to ease off this afternoon in the west ( east is fine )
You might be ok
Clear as a bell now in the south near the George’s river , already set up with mount and laptop powered up waiting for dark around 6.30pm
Clear and calm down this way too and the jetstream forecast is most favourable. Time to get some more Jupiter video and see what the Red Spot is up to. Seeing was pretty good last night too.
Never mind the jet stream. What matters most is the denser air lower down. The thing to watch is the AWS wind readings at Mt Boyce, at the top of the blue mountains. The westerly is dropping, down to single digits.
Using the new Cloud Free Night site ( open to all )
Finally we have some dark skies and some welcome light rain in Sydney during June
Tonight looks ok until midnight , no wind , low Jetstream, mild temperatures , cloud moving in after midnight
Friday night look ok as well with less cloud until the early hours
Grab it while you can , Saturday nights clouded out , not sure about Sunday
Cheers
Great ... I only this morning pulled down the eq 6 set up in the cube for a tune and taking North...but I bought an easel paint brushes and canvas so I will busy myself creating valuable master pieces☺
Scored five canvasses for only $13 ..how good is that..so I worked out each painting will cost only $6 so I will be making a profit at $10 each...so the RASA 8 inch is only about 900 paintings away☺

The clouds have parted nicely down here this arvo but is going to be very dewy now because of the recent rain and because it is also quite calm will be quite cool too. Should be worth the effort for a little while at least.
The parting of the clouds didn't last long but managed an hour or so looking at Jupiter and a Europa + shadow transit with the 10" dob in very good seeing before it all started closing in again.
The forecast is looking good over the next week for Sydney and NSW south coast
Some expected westerly winds to pick up mid week to move all this moisture away
Seeing has been ordinary for Winter so far but we might get some clear nights with good seeing before the moon gets up to much around mid month
Talking about the Moon , is anyone keen to send lunar images in for the Bintel lunar challenge ( coincides with the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 )
Cheers
