Too expensive for essentially a barn-door mount....

For that kind of money you can get EQ6 !!!

Of course the reviews are excellent.. if I made a fool of myself and paid THAT much money for this flimsy contraption... .. my review would also be excellent

Hi guys!

Just like mbaddah, i was interested in that mount.
It actually is very pricy considering the object, but i guess one of the good points compared to an EQ6 for example is transportability.

It's light and small, tracks fairly well for wide field & short focal imaging (according to reviews), and seems to be fairly quick to set up.

Wouldn't that be a point to consider ?

P.S: I'm actually french, studying in Sydney for another year or so. After that i have no idea whether I'll stay here, or move overseas... my interest in in this mount arose when considering the transportability. I see it as a convenient thing that I'd be able to carry around (not like my C11 back home ).

Any other ideas/suggestions in my case ?

Cheers

other options are the kenko sky memo, eg

http://www.scsastro.co.uk/it170003.htm

or at a much lower cost and from reports , functionailty
the EQ1 table top mount

Samir Kharusi, who I consider a very wise man in the DSLR astro imaging space , strongly recommends the Kenko

again, its very pricey

Well... a mount MUST be heavy and strong enough, otherwise it is useless (it wobbles, vibrates, oscillates etc). Simple home-made barn door mount could be 1/10000-th the price, and it still could have the same carrying capacity (and accuracy) as this thing.

Kenko looks like the 1/2 size of EQ6... or EQ5.
EQ5 is at least 30% of the price of Kenko, or even less.
