Composite Eclipse from the Goldy Coast

I tell ya, that cloud and the odd shower around 'ere all day nearly put this duck to sleep, 4:40pm seen me scramble a scope rig in the drive and a tripod, camera doing auto's on the roof

So here is a composite from the roof going every 3 or 4 or5 mins (damned if I can remember 400D, 70-200'L' @ 70mm

I was quite surprised when it appeared it looked like it has materialised out of another dimension

I was laughing so hard at your comments Bob!
I just had a good feeling it would clear up so I stayed positive the whole day so not seeing it didn't enter my mind . Boy that attitude would've come back and bit me really hard if it clouded over .
Beautiful shot, Bob. Great to see it being captured as it was showing itself through the horizon. When I saw a teeny pinky patch poking thru, I thought at first it was a wee patch of cloud , then as it grew, I was in no doubt .

I havent touched a mount or scope for like 8 months, buried up in the Astro-room, do you think I could find anything
Appreciate your comments very much all the same very well must keep calm under pressure
You realise I seen that strange little cloud also, true words i kid you not, think my old fashion compass points to magnetic Nth and not true Nth

This looks great - the materialisation of the Moon is a very pleasing look!

Nice image Bob, over here in SA the moon was supposed to rise eclipsed but the day light was still too bright and it only became visible once the moon started to move out of the umbra. Next time it will be better. Saw a really good one back in 94 or 95. Would like to see something like that in October.

Thankyou Stephen, I just looked back to the shooting exifs and learned that exposures was 3 mins apart, seems to work with spacings nicely, tho I wasnt sure at the time if the moon would clearly move enough in that time or cause overlapping. Some how my memory said 3 mins for some reason, i dont know why, Lol, and gut feeling felt good aswell, so went with it

Cheers Matt, yeah, I oridginally only layered the last five higher brighter ones, but looked incomplete, so, all do give that materialising aspect, glad I didn't scrap them

Thanx Paul, & yeah, Oct 8th has Totality starting a couple to 3 hrs after sundown for the Eastern half of Aus, If memory serves, Total starts approx 20 odd deg alt for you and over an hour after Sunset, so much more favourable.
All the best with it
