The pictures are very much exaggerated.
While it is possible to do away with wheels and use the hovercraft principal. I think it is very much a pipe dream.
Who will be the first to disappear under a bus, truck or car because they can't stop in time?

Plenty of that happens on the 'traditional' wheeled board
But, if they ever do work out how to make a hover board i'm sure they could also easily figure out a braking system. Would anyone want one tho? Brakes on a trad bourdwould be reasonably simple, but no one has bothered.
At the very least, in a moment of impending doom, you could switch off the anti-grav and fall a short way to the ground to stop, or just jump off and watch the board sail away.

Still it's a bloody expensive hoax. Someone paid a lot of cash to pull this prank & had connections to some stars too!

Funny or Die have already admitted that this was a Hoax
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-576...video-is-fake/
Love the first line... "To everyone's dismay, the future has not actually arrived. Folks, hoverboards are not real. "
Actually, anyone with basic knowledge of physics would not have been "dismayed"... geezz.... why is this even newsworthy?

Yeah, I know. It doesn't read much better does it? ...but how much effort would you be prepared to put into debunking a hoax? It's hardly thesis material.

True, I just don't get WHY whats the point. All the money spent making the video, paying off the stars, creating a company profile & website. It's not even April 1st, so WHY? it's just nuts..

YouTube pays people to put advertisements on their videos. A popular video gets more hits, and earns more money. There was a recent Current Affairs (or simillar) show which showed Aussies making a solid living out of their YouTube channels by posting how-to videos on cooking, car modification and the like.
The HUVr Tech video has over a million hits and counting, not including the inevitable video exposing it as a hoax when they decide to announce it... I'm not sure what the pay rate is per view, but I think there would be a bit of cash in it for them.
