Alpine Valley from Melbourne

As I am getting into the swing of things for Mars, got the scope out this evening ready for a Mars imaging session tomorrow morning so decided to test my new IR 685 filter on the moon.

Had not imaged the Alpine Valley for several years!

Despite the average seeing, quite surprised with the result and the fact that I spent only approx. 15 mins processing this through AS2, AstraImage (just some LR Deconvolution) and some finishing in CS3.

Still love the good old moon!

Clear skies,

John K.

The Moon is our friend!

This is certainly a great hi-res shot. The shadows from the mountains are the simply mesmerizing especially near first quarter moon.

Wow, great resolution. It is no problem to see the groove in the valley.
