You don’t need to connect to use the app. It is a reference for the stars at in the polar scope at the current time. Just look at the polar clock utility on the app. Ignore all else. It will apply to any SW polar scope on any mount as the issue is seeing the position of the stars at the current time around the central circle. I use it as a reference for my Star Adventurer and also my HEQ 5 because the polar scope lights are so bad it is very hard to see the markings and the stars at the same time. This way do do not need to see the markings.
It can also help to roughly align first using a GPS compass for True North and level angle measuring device which you can buy at a hardware.
