Blinking images in CdC V4

I thought I knew what I was doing...but obviously not!

I have a plate solved image and want to "Blink" against the CdC skymap.
I've inserted the image into the recommended CdC folder but I can't get it to display.....

Anyone had success??

(Did find an alternative based on Aladin maps, see:http://www.crowson.com/ASEM/How%20to...g%20Aladin.pdf but would prefer CdC)

My finder image for Nova Circ is available for trials....

Is your image a .fits file? (as described at your link)

I blinked an image by creating a sample .fits file here:

https://skyview.gsfc.nasa.gov/current/cgi/query.pl

Input 10 45 3.6, -59 41 4.2 to create a sample .fits file, save to Desktop (or any folder)

Open CdC

View > Position 10 45 04 -59 41 04, FOV = 00d 15m 00s, OK

Setup > Pictures

in Background tab, browse to .fits file on Desktop (or image folder)

check "Show this picture", Apply, OK

View > Blinking picture

Does this help?

M,
Hmm
Thanks basically what I was doing....
The image is a WCS fits file from Astrometry - about 1.4 x 1.1 deg FOV

It shows in the "Pictures" preview screen but doesn't seem to show in the mapping view. (It seems to be a large file @ 1.85Mb??!!)
See attached.
The screen darkens but no signs of the image stars??

The downloaded SkyView image shows OK.....
I've looked at the fits headers but don't honestly know what I'm looking for......

The .fits file that I created and blinked in CdC is attached. Does it work on your system?

Attached is an image from Aladin near the south pole (RA=10 10 03, Dec=-89 59 28; FOV=26.0' X 19.5').

The attached screenshot is from solving it on Astrometry.net.

I think you might be using the wrong file. The new-image.fits file of the attached image does blink in CdC. Does it blink on your system?

Sutekh,
The zip file doesn't contain a valid fits file for CdC V4....
I'll try again with the original finder image, plate solve and see how we go.

Still not working for me.....
I've dropped a copy of my finder image fits file (after WCS plate solving) into Dropbox.
Appreciate any comments/ solutions.

All the "sample" new-image fits files I download from Astrometry seem to run OK in CdC V4 ??????!!!!!

Thanks for posting the solved .fits image of your field. (The link to the Astrometry build would have been another way to share the .fits file.)

The image does blink in v3.10 of CdC (see att.) But it's incredibly noisy and so v4 rejects it.

Maybe another plate-solving utility would produce a more useful result?

The test field of the south pole from Aladin and a screenshot of the plate solve are attached again without the .zip folder. (Versions of the .zip utility are largely incompatible, probably due to building with different compilers.)

This site greatly reduces the quality of the images so you may not be able to build a blinkable .fits from this field. But if you can, then at least you'll know that your procedure works with CdC v4.

Sutekh,
Thanks for all the help and encouragement.
Yes, the short exposure from the DMK51 is very noisy. I also tried with twenty stacked images (improved the background noise) but got the same result...

Issue now resolved!!

Patrick has come back to me and confirmed he found a bug in the CdCV4 which didn't scale the image properly...he's going to fix it and upload an improved version.
All's well that ends well.
