Ok I know it's been done already and seriously done by the Hubble, ESO and Chart32 guys .

I did harm some photons in the core of this galaxy by applying a smidge of localized sharpening.

AND I've also uploaded a rare 100% res image, albeit cropped, as , well... at 3100mm why hide the details

Could only get 2 hours of data before the clouds rolled in. Seeing was: meh..very average, but the transparency was pretty good from my light-pollution-central backyard. I found the galaxy to be brighter than expected with 10 minute subs showing good structure. With 8 or so hours this little puppy should look impressive.

As for colour...we shall see...the weather forecast indicates someone clearly bought a flash new telescope and hasn't 'fessed-up

Here was I thinking a Class 1 med cert required full colour vision...

You’ve reverted to a supervised PPL

Otherwise, I think we can let you fly solo

I suppose I could have made the fact: it’s Luminance only at this stage, a little more obvious....

Colour data aside (missing really ) I don’t think the intrinsic resolution is too shabby. (last time I checked my ATPL was still current )....hopefully the deep-photon tally will increase if it clears up tonight

Thanks Marc...perhaps it takes me back....as I clearly remember when the TV picture...which included the first moon landing...was only black and white.

Oh! Am I allowed to say black and white? ...or is that politically incorrect these days

Most pretty Peter. Yep, Andy got his new scope with the highest cloud to aperture ratio in history of astro

What an absolutely beautiful galaxy!

I can't wait to see this one completed. Should be a corker!

Thanks guys...I managed to get another hour of good data last night. The extended field has a remarkable number of galaxy clusters popping out of the aether...might have to do a Rolf on this one to do it justice..

P.S.
I uploaded to the same URL a negative image of the entire field.

I suspect the faintest galaxies are around Mag 19-20 ?

Not bad for a 'scope in the burbs

I must be dreaming - did you say 100% crop!!!

Very impressive Peter. Wonderful detail in spite of your "localised sharpening" transgression! I hope you can get some good colour soon.
