I am just starting out realy dont know what I'm doing. I see you have the 1000D what settings do you use for say planets? Deep sky? I was using the EOS utility.\ on live view but just could not get a decent focus.

I have used the 55-250mm lens as well as the 18-55mm lens. I can only piggyback my cam in my scope at this point.

I have used 400, 800 and 1600 ISO from between 30-120 secs for shots. I am quite suprised in that I haven't seen any noticeable noise at 1600ISO in my dark frames.

Interesting streetlight effect, almost looks like an aurora.

BTW, it might not be such a good idea to post what gear you have in your signature because you have also included details on how to get your house to steel it .
