Topsy Turvey galaxy NGC 1313 through IFN

NGC 1313 (also known as the Topsy Turvy Galaxy) is an isolated barred spiral galaxy with a diameter of about 50,000 light-years, or about half the size of the Milky Way. It's pretty weird-looking with an uneven shape and its axis of rotation is not exactly in its centre.

What is also interesting is the IFN throughout the field. It doesn't seem to feature in many of the pics on the web, but there are some that show it quite well and the structure is similar to my pic, so it's real.

I got 12 hrs exposure on this one, but probably some more colour would be needed to bring out the brownish hue of the IFN that I've noticed on some web images.
Picture and details here https://www.astrobin.com/377967/?nc=user
and larger res here https://www.astrobin.com/full/377967/0/

BTW, there is a reflection artifact just below the bright star, which I've ignored.

Love that shot. It's got it all. Interesting galaxy, a bright star and faint dust. Very cool.

Very nice Geoff.
Quite a few background galaxies in that field as well to top it off.

IFN surrounding an interesting galaxy, what more could you ask from in an image!
As you mention, adding more exposure would help with the noise but even now it’s more than acceptable

What a cracker of an image!

I’ve previously pointed my rig at this system, but at 3400mm thought it looked rather fuzzy and unremarkable ...and moved on.

I’ve not seen a similar image of this object hence am blown away by your sublime wide field rendition.

Wonderful stuff....and an inspiration for many astroimagers to follow.

It's a crazy looking mess of a galaxy for sure huh? The mix of galactic cirrus and wispy galaxy makes for a rare combination, cool galaxy image Geoff

Amazing shot Geoff. Do you recall what time you used for LRGB?

Thanks Colin. It's always a toss up between longer exposures and moving on to the next target.

Thanks Mike. I wasn't actually expecting the IFN until I noticed it in the stacked luminance. Then I went fishing for online pics to verify that I wasn’t getting some weird gradients or light leaks

Great find Geoff!
I was unaware of NGC1313 …. and the constellation Reticulum.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice Geoff. I did this myself last year and picked up the IFN, though I went more moody looking. It's a tough object but rewarding.
