Small Magellanic Cloud Mosaik

Small Magellanic Cloud - Mosaic out of 4 Images

Mosaic was done to show the extension of the SMC galaxy to the far left. (usually cutoff by imagers..)
The mosaic consists out of 4 quadrants,
each quadrant was exposed and filtered with 44 Ha and 44 OIII images.
Exposures were done from August 4th 2018 to 20th of September 2018.
We were trying to get a near RGB image which shows more details than usual images with RGB filters by using for this only OIII and Ha filters.

Find detailed info and a larger image here:

Find an annotated version here:

For the imaging we used telescope T8 at iTelescope in Siding Springs.

Gerald Wechselberger and Dr. Franz Gruber

Lovely work Gerald - congrats to you and the team!
The SMC is certainly fascinating to study when imaged this well.

Very sharp and yes, nice colours. I see the faint star deformation, great work.

A grand overview of the relationship between objects which are normally separately imaged. The composition is really nice. Detail and colours are spot on.
