My best M31 to date

Taken with my 150mm F5 Newtonian and Canon 600D DSLR.

Yes, artefacts, banding and more work needed etc. But still happy to get some of the structural details. Not made easy by its low altitude from Sydney (short window to image) and our run of weather.

Richard,
Superb image , text book stuff !
How did you capture this image ? M31 doesn’t rise above 14 deg Alt all night , you must have a great view of the horizon
How many subs , darks , flats etc
Obviously you were guiding ?
I have a 6” f6 newt, a great scope and a Canon 600D too but have restricted views surrounded by trees and houses etc. plus I’m only 25m above sea level near the George’s river ( I do my best with what I can see at night which is about 40% of the usable night sky )

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your comments. The low elevation makes it really challenging.
I took 55 subs each 60 secs unguided at iso 3200 and darks.
My old Vixen mount is still reliable, unlike me

Richard.

Nicely done. I'd love to try this, just need a clear night before it disappears. Given what you got with one hour in Sydney I live in hope.
Thanks for showing.

awe! I've got my very first ever date with her and my fast achro this Saturday when the next clear sky is forecasted. Astonishing to see you imaging it so clearly from Sydney. Beautiful.

Did some more work on the image. I think it is an improvement.
