Where can you get the sensor of a 5D professionally cleaned?

Cheers and thanks

I'd take it to Canon and I think if you book beforehand, they'll do it while you wait.

Might cost between $50-$100.

Canon in Sydney (North Ryde) charges $60 If i recall.

You might wanna consider getting CPS silver membership since you have lots of pro gear. You get a couple of free cleans a year along with other benefits.

I sent my mark 3 in at it was around $80 from memory.
Also take memory card and battery out I left my lexar 1000 professional 128 GB card in but remembered it at the post office and quickly unpacked it and got my card.
Also insure it to the full replacement value,( Incase dropped or lost ) ask canon to do the same on the return postage.
If you are sending it in I had to send it to Sydney from Victoria

I got mine back in 1week !

Thanks guys.

Just made some calls.

Canon at Ryde charge $66, don't need to book. Just drop in and they'll do it while you wait (15-20 mins).

Camera Service Centre in Castlereigh street CBD charge $70, drop it off one day and pick it up the next.

I'd prefer to go to Canon, but it means having to drive out to Ryde. So I think i'll go to the Camera Service Centre in the CBD since I can do it while at work.

Wouldn't you simply buy a wet clean kit? There are plenty of threads on this on the net, especially at Dpreview.com

Nikon D600 guys are expert at it due to the dust/oil problem with that camera.

I used to clean my 20D's with Bintel cleaning fluid, a hurricane blow, Q tips and clean tissues and a bright light. Easy.

Greg.

What did you use? I hear Eclipse fluid kit is often recommended.

What's on the sensor?

http://photosol.com/

Here is a response I got from another site:
"I use Eclipse fluid and sensor swabs made by http://photosol.com/. I think Eclipse fluid is just ultra-pure methanol that dries with no residue, but don't even dream of using anything not designed for sensor cleaning. The swabs come in different sizes - you want Type 3 for full-frame sensors. Lots of suppliers - I get them from Amazon.

The Eclipse fluid is cheap, the pads are expensive - $2-3 each, use once only, and expect to use several to clean the sensor. Often you end up leaving a smear on the sensor - sometimes cleaning makes it worse at first - and you need several goes before ending up with a nice clean sensor. I think I took 6 goes once."

And here is a link to a video describing the process:

Made it worse with what?

I agree with Greg, fairly easy to do yourself. Use the kit from visible dust ez clean, about $40 delivered from US, does x4 cleans ,they even threw in 2 lens pen & blower

I agree it really is easy to do it your self, I have done my 5D since Ive owned it, and it is crystal clear.

I wont mention my procedure as I'm sure many would die of shock, but the filter in front of the sensor is very tough.
