Do I need IR blocker with LPS filter - QHY8??

Hi Everyone,

I'm just putting together all the bits I need to image with my QHY8.

I'll be using a Hutech IDAS LPS filter basically all the time. I'm wondering if I also need to use an IR blocking filter?

I've looked at the bandpass plots for both filters, and although I don't really know what I'm looking at it appears the LPS filter also cuts the IR.

See here: http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/idas/filtplt.htm

So assuming I can seal the chamber with my field flattener do I actually need the IR filter if I use the LSP filter?

Cheers,

David.

400nm is deep blue, at 520nm the human eye senses green and at 600nm red. At 656nm is the famous "H-Alpha" emission line of hydrogen, once you get over 700 you are heading to IR..... Conclusion .....this alone will be fine.

Thanks Clive, I was a bit concerned that perhaps the graph might peak up again off the graph to the right (over 800nm) but I've since found a plot which shows blocking of wavelengths right up over 1100nm.

So I'd say I'm pretty safe to use just the LPS filter!
