Canon RAW EXIF Editor ?

Hi Folks,

Can anyone recommend an EXIF editor for canon RAW files?

I have a 350D, but I want to fool DPP in to thinking the images were taken with a 30D, as DPP supports the 30D for lens aberation correction but not the 350D.

Thanks,
Jason.

ExifTool ought to be able to do what you want: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

If you don't like a command line interface then also get the GUI front end: http://freeweb.siol.net/hrastni3/fot...xiftoolgui.htm

Thanks Rick.
Got that, now I just need to work out how to use the command line version, as the GUI won't change the camera info I need to change.

Cheers,
Jason.

Jason,

Is changing the 350D to the 30D going to give you the results you expect? Do they both have the same size, insofar as pixel size, and pixel count are concerned?

You might find that it may be an exercise in futility.

Would love to know if it works for you.

Humayun, my thinking was that the 30D sensor is almost the same as the 350D, so it was worth a try. But, I didn't have to!

It turns out that the 350D actually is supported by DPP, but the camera itself does not record the lens type (LensType parameter) in its EXIF metadata, so all you have to do is populate the LensType field with the appropriate Canon lens code. Once this is done, lens corrections are available in DPP. Awesome!!

So, instead of rushing out to buy a 2nd hand 30D or 40D to tide me over until the new models come out (60D very soon, 5D MkIII possibly by the end of the year), I can get the most out of the good old 350D.

Cheers,
Jason.
P.S. Now I just have to get your name off all my photo's!!

lol! How did my name get on there?

Also, I doubt the Mark III will be out before the end of this year. I'm anticipating September 2011. I've already spoken to my contact and have agreed to put a deposit down the day it is announced.

You'll find the 1Ds Mark IV will come out before the 5D Mark III.

Your name is in the EXIF data, I guess you must have put it there via EOS Utility?

Yes, it seems the 60D and the 1Ds MkIV will be out in the next few weeks. Talk is that there will be another high end model replaced before the year is out, so likely either the 5D MkIII or 7D MkII (or whatever they call it).

Cheers,
Jason.
