Colour Correction Filter

I have a BCF filter coming and hope to install it into my 450D. I've read that by then fitting a X-Nite Color Correction Filter 1 to the camera lens, the camera reverts to a normal camera with a working Auto White Balance etc.

However, these X-Nite filters are US$76 and the wankers will only do express courier post that will cost US$96 to get it here.

Shouldn't any 58mm colour correction filter to the same job or does anyone know of a filter with a similar curve?
