Dragons...well, their heads

I've been out of the game since late last year but kicked back into it on Friday night.
I've been playing with SGP and this is my first fully automated run that included a meridian flip.....worked flawlessly.

I don't know what it is but I'm not happy with this one.....stars I think, not sure.
This is the beginners section after all so I thought I'd throw up what I have and get some feedback prior to sitting down for the next processing try.

I'm a startools boy so no need to give me the rundown on the latest PI methods - waaaay over my head

Guess I should mention capture details -

Bit of 'moon glow' across the image Jon?

Very nice image in any case.

I'm not sure whether it's moon glow or my processing in a bid to try and bring up detail.

Granted there was a 1/4 moon for the early part of the run however it was on the opposite side of the sky.

….I'm a bit over staring at this so think I might give it another processing go tomorrow and see what I can come up with......I'm going cross eyed!

Hi Jon
How was the moisture in the air?
I had a similar effect the other night which I put down to moisture...if so look at each sub and see if the star size varies ..with mine it was intermittent and removal of the worse examples helped a great deal.
In any event it is an excellent image given the lay off and instituting a auto run..man I would be so happy to reach that level...
Well done all around.
Alex

That's a great result, from a solid effort.
Perhaps the glow can be minimised by stretching the image differently?

Good to see you back on the job again Jon. Yeah, it's a bit milky but what do you expect when you're shooting the Milky Way? Lots of nice detail in that shot, well done.

It's very nice Imme. Is it the issue the small yellow stars? I've been working on the same target and have had problems with those pesky little midges

You've captured the main area well
Did you play around with the Curves? It looks like you've brightened a lot of the image uniformly but left the darker areas really dark. It creates a flatter less dynamic image and something I've done myself from time to time as a way of making parts of an image pop.

Mate the prob I have with stars is the are too many of the little buggers.......basically drowns out the rest of the image, it’s like a wall you can’t see through!

Trying to get rid of the stars is what has caused the rest of the pic to wash out/sky glow. I’m going to have to give it another go when I get some time...maybe tonight

I played with everything.....I was so focused on minimising the stars during processing I think I lost my way/focus on the actual target

Thanks mike...I’m going to have to give it another go. I think the data is good but the processing leaves a lot to be desired. Out of practice I guess

That's a lovely rendition Jon.
Bold star colours, nebulosity contrast, and image depth.
You certainly know your way around Star Tools.

Nice work!

I've given the processing another whack and this is what I've come up with.

Really challenging to do with the stars......don't ask me why but they seem to be drowning everything else out.

Let's just say it was a challenging one for me
