Asked a question on CloudyNights and was sent to an article on this one. Decided it might be nice to make some friends on a different continent.

I found IIS whilst trying to track down info on purchasing a scope.
Forums usually take you deeper into equipment than the usual sales pitch.

Bought a computer about 6 months ago and started surfing the web merrily (as you do) I think the link to IIS came up when I Googled for star maps. As soon as I realised that it was an Australian site I homed straight in. Wouldn't have kept visiting though if the quality and breadth of information hadn't been so high. Ironically, my brother Steve (already a member) put me on to it about a week later.

I found out about Ice in Space searching the web for information on looking for a telescope & accessories. Soon after that IIS got a bit of a plug in the local paper when Iceman was interviewed prior to the lunar eclipse last year. As I recall this plug gave a few locals the knowledge of this site on the web.

Ian Musgrave's Astroblog - of which I found after being a long-time subscriber to his Southern Skywatch updates via the ABC.

I did a Google search for "telescope" and "forum". I hadn't thought of the word astronomy.
