Starlight Express SXV-AO

Has anybody had any experience with an adaptive optics unit like this one from Starlight Express?

Thanks,
Regards,
Grahame.

I've used adaptive optics similar to the one offered by SX.. The big advantage of the SXV-AO unit is that it can be used on any camera provided you're using a SX guide camera like the Lodestar.. AO makes a really big difference when capturing images at long focal lengths where the seeing usually destroys the image.

Thats what i was hoping for at longer focal lengths but do you know how much of a difference will the AO make at shorter focal lengths (say <1500mm) at all?

Grahame.

I've only used it at 1750~2800mm myself, although I dare say it will make a positive difference in shorter focal length work... Although with shorter focal lengths, the affects of seeing don't usually make a great deal of difference to the final image... I think anything over 1000mm would benefit from AO, anything over 1500mm I think it starts to become worth its weight in gold.

Alex.
