Reccomended minimum widefield target elevation?

I want to image Orion tonight and I don't know if the general ~35-45 degrees is the same for Orion?

I would think that would depend on how much light pollution you have on the horizon.

Personally i never image below 40 degrees, but that's just my personal preference. M42 crosses above 40 degrees around 11:30pm tonight at my location.

With wide field it doesn't matter as much in my opinion as the image scale covers up a lot of the issues. I finished processing a mosaic last night that is between 30-35° and it turned out well enough.

Of course the higher up the better, but at the same time any data is better than no data at all! At least you get out of the house and do the astro thing. I personally will image as soon as the target is in the view, and after many nights I can start selecting usable subs.

Like Glen, I usually start imaging at 40 degrees. Unless it's a comet.
