DMK needs a clean ?

Hi all this is my first post on this site and I’m after some info about the DMK camera. I just got my new DMK and I connected it to my Laptop in my living room and pointed it at a light and I can see a lot of black rings all over the image on the screen. I had a quick look at the Moon last night and it was the same, how can I get rid of these black marks,,,,,,Paul.

Hi Paul.

My DMK also arrived with plenty of gunk on the ccd cover.

First of all, try to blow it off using a bulb blower.

If that doesn't work, use a pure cotten cue tip and very gently wipe the surface of this glass cover. You may also try using a little moisture from your breath to help clean the surface, again using a cotton bud.

If this fails, you can try using a cleaning solution. A very small amount.

Above all else...be very gentle.

Hi Paul, to IceInSpace. Nice to see you here.

I use a q-tip (ear cleaner!) dipped in demineralised water and then wipe it across the CCD.

There's some other good hints in this blog post by The Imaging Source:
Cleaning the CCD chip of DMK/DFK/DBK cameras.

Hi Paul

I use the techniques on this Digital SLR Sensor Cleaning website to clean my DSLR, DMK/DBK and SBIG ST7 and the method works a treat.

My personal experience with the photographic style lens pen’s, is that I have invariably found that at best, I only push the dust around or worse still, add more dust so I don’t use the lens pen for my CCD cleaning now.

Cheers

Dennis
