Last nights effort

About 2.5 hours of data stacked in a heap to see how the traffic showed up...but DSS must have cut them out...anyways a colour in this morning as I cant do a full process until sometime in the future

Again short exposures 41 seconds and gain thru the roof...when the traffic started I sortta gave up and pushed gain up to 550 to see what would happen...

Excellent image, plenty of detail and beautiful colour for a quick process Alex
I did Eta again last night with better off axis shaped stars , processing today. Also finished up with a quick set of subs on the Jewel Box at 2.00am

Alex,
The detail you manage is very impressive, well done! You certainly have a unique way of presenting shades and colour which makes for an interesting way of looking at DSO's.

Thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement.

I am very happy with the results as to detail considering that I am doing it all wrong...short exposure and high gain with no darks or flats and colours only done like a colouring book...
Learning lots of little things each time I try. ..so its all good.

My method, at the moment and I will do things correctly when everything is set up...if ever☺.
Anyways I thought I would explain my method as to colour as it can be used if you find you lack colour☺.
It is simple photo shop...after I have a black and with image I make a solid colour frame and overlay the image upon it, then using the eraser tool, set at low opacity, gently run over the region to colour...when done flatten the image and do another colour.
You can use this method to colour stars as well...I am a bit heavy handed I know but each time I move forward a little and the use of this system will only be to adjust a already decent final image.

Yes the smoke will ruin imaging tonight plus we are in its path.

Ironically I purchased a new fire pump today but am to tired to instal it...it is to replace an old pump that bring water to the house...we have about 6 inches of water in the tanks...so ot could be grim. .I plan to have a nap and if up to it instal it later tonight..but I am beat as I was up until 2-30 am last night☺
Anyways as we are down wind the smoke is going to stuff imaging tonight...the chopper os water bombing it now and the fire is a good way off but from past experience I know they can move incredibly fast...so may stay awake if it gets closer.
Its a worry.
The good news is the parts Bojan built for the "BOJAN WIDEFIELD MOUNT" arrived so that project can move forward ...although I need to take everything back to Sydney to comete the build.
So hopefully the wind changes and I can stop worrying about getting burnt out again and get some more imaging done...tonight is about it Moon wise..but looking outside its now smokey all over.

Take care up there Alex
Imaging can wait until the fires are under control and your town and surrounding areas are safe

Thanks Martin
Fortunately there is a hole thru to Orion.
I am so excited about getting the widefield mount completed I have taken the 80mm off the heq5 and instaled the Nikon using the 70/200 lens set at a little past 70 to give it a run using the intervalometer..2 second delay, 5 minute exposure and 30 second interval, iso 1600 and the temp is 34 degrees...see how that goes..should be a good test.
I dont know how the fire is going ...there is still plenty of smoke passing a little to the South but I cant see any glow on the hills...I think its staying on the other side of the river...but I have a lady friend who seems to be right in the middle of it so I hope she is ok...anyways have to go and see how the first capture stacks up.

You could use the approach to introduce a non blown out core of m42 into a capture that, in an effort to pick up nebulosity, has the core blown out.
