Tarantula Nebula

Hi all,

Here is the result of my first data collection on the Tarantula Nebula for the season. The plan was to get a couple of nights in this week on it and get around 10hrs but the second night the seeing was pretty average and the temp was pretty warm so I decided that I’d get very little value from it. Instead I processed the firsts nights worth of data on its own and I’ll collect the rest later in the month. So here it is:

80 x 180sec @ ISO 400
Canon 350d astromodified w/ STC Duo Filter
BT200 f/4 Newtonian
HEQ5 Pro guided by Nexguide SAG

Thanks for looking

Thank you Chris. I feel like it came out pretty nice though I do plan to add more data to it in the next moon cycle.

As far as the guider goes, I like it. I’m not going to even start pretending it has accuracy in the realms of a guider hooked up to a laptop but it doesn’t do a bad job. It’s completely standalone so it suits my DSLR setup which is why I like it.

Looking good Ryan, the swirls of nebulosity are quite prominent. Looking forward to the next addition of data.
Cheers,
Tony

Thank you Tony. I’m hoping to have finished my cold finger mod by the next opportunity so we’ll see what happens.
