Fires in adelaide

Hey

To all the members in the hills of adelaide please get out and don't leave it too late!

I have a 4wd if any animals need towing, I don't have a float or anything but I am willing to help.

Stay safe

Troy

Well done Troy for the offer of help.
It's my old stomping ground and my social media is lit up with family and friends. It's late here now in Spain so i hope not to wake to any worse news.

Stay safe all and look out for one and another.

Let's not get too excited. The fire is north east of the city in the Adelaide hills. 200,000 people live in the Adelaide hills and I am one of them. We are south west of the current fire position about 55km away. We saw smoke yesterday and the wind change is occurring at 220pm ACDST. Anyone south west of Mt Lofty is safe for now.

We are watching the reports and keeping an eye out but I am not concerned at present.

It is a serious situation Paul.
I would suggest people stay tuned to 891 radio or the CFS site and stay
updated. The fire is not under any control. The CFS is currently in the
mode of saving lives and property.

I am not saying it is not a serious situation Steve, I am saying not all of the Adelaide hills are at risk here. The Adelaide hills is a huge area and saying all the Adelaide hills is at risk is simply an exaggeration. This fire is north of city line and not even at Inglewood yet. It is miles away for many people in the southern part of the hills. If you live in Inglewood area then yes get the hell out, but the wind change will drive the fire north not south. The wind is now coming from the south.

People need to watch and act, not panic like lemmings. We live with this threat every year, we are not complacent. We are experiences at this threat.

I've just seen some photos on facebook taken by friends at Woodside. It's looking pretty bad around Charleston way. I'm thankful we sold our place at Harrogate when we did. Still, we have lots of friends in the affected areas. The word from them all is they and their houses are OK at this stage. Fingers crossed for them. Here's oneof the pictures, taken at the woodside pool, looking towards Charleston.

The CFS do an amazing job. I think once this is all over the state government should reimburse all of those that volunteered their emergency services Levy.

Lets not forget the fires in the Southeast and in Victoria. Hope everyone is safe & well.

guys

just stay safe and don't leave it too late! I am out north in Paralowie and damn last night we had the sight of the hills ablaze from our backyard. last I checked ABC it was classified catastrophic and out of control.

The amount of native animals, horses and cattle/sheep affected due to some ignorant person burning an incinerator on a total fire ban day of 40+c is hard to take.

My hat goes off to the CFS and volunteers helping

+1 from me as well

It would be very tough and horrendous conditions up there at the moment.

I would think that most would be in property protection mode as well as trying to put in containment lines.

A lot of trucks have turned up from interstate today! If you know any of them give them a big thanks from us in Adelaide!

The amount of people helping unknown people out is awesome and makes me think humanity still might have a chance.

Very smokey out North where I live and they are saying it won't be under control till late next week. If no other stupid person does something!

Been watching this fire closely over the past few days, got a few friends who line in Cudlee Creek and Humbug Scrub, both areas which have been impacted by the fire. I have not heard yet if they still have their houses or not though. I guess like many others we will just have to wait and see.

Luckily the CFS have a couple of days where they hope to get on top of the situation, many hands on this fire from the ground and in the air. A specially adapted C-130 was bought in from Avalon in Vic to help, this aircraft has been doing runs from the RAAF base to the fires along with other dusters from Gawler. Hopefully before Wednesday they can at least bring some relief to the fire. With the forecasts from Wednesday through to Sunday not looking too good for fighting fires, with higher temps, windy conditions and Thunderstorms.

I made a couple of timelapses of the smoke I could see from my home in Paralowie.

1st Video of the PyroCumulus forming.

2nd Video, more PyroCu.

Stay safe all...

The guy accused of lighting the incinerator has stated he has not used the incinerator since he moved into the property.
so far people are jumping to conclusions. How about we wait on the official findings before we tar and feather the guy?
If it's found the fire started there then we can hang him.

I wasnt out to tar and feather a bloke just stating the facts given by the media!

Either way its still not good for adelaide and the animals even if some bloke threw a bottle out the window of a car still someones stupidity that could have killed someone and cause people and animals to loose their homes.

You wouldnt be too happy with that would you if you lost your house!

Facts and media in the same sentence. There lies the problem.

Some friends from our local footy & cricket clubs have been in & out since it started. The crews are doing a great job, as usual.

I've heard on the CFS grapevine that it may have started as a result of some broken glass in some dry grass, but it is yet to be determined. Police will investigate it in due course.

I think they have now confirmed 15 properties destroyed, with possibly up to 20 more to be confirmed.
