I was looking at the smaller picture, "inner space" how small atoms, or more specifically the solid part of things that make up everything really are.

Nuclei are around 100,000 times smaller than the atoms they’re housed in.

If the nucleus were the size of a peanut, the atom would be about the size of a baseball stadium. If we lost all the dead space inside our atoms, we would each be able to fit into a particle of dust, and the entire human species would fit into the volume of a sugar cube.

Also ..we see stars as a point of light but that point of light is seen everywhere.

Think again a sphere around a star..it being at the center...think multiple spheres later...but anywhere on the surface of our imaginary sphere you will see that point of light ...so although we only see a point in fact that point scribes out a light bubble...and it does this at all sizes you make that sphere.

Our models tell us this certainly but given the speed of say just an electron can we really view the space in an electron cloud as nothing...sure if we could stop things but we cant.
As I said science works on models and I really suspect there is much much more than our models predict.
And remember as wonderful as the standard model may be it still has problems it has not solved.
Now none of this is anti science the reverse I venture.
Our models are models but one can bet reality is far more complex.

Science can explain a lot but not everything. The universe is complicated and the more we look the more complicated it all gets. I don't think we can dismiss all pseudoscientific theory just because it is beyond our reasoning.
Science falls apart at the beginning of ....

"The Standard Model of particle physics — which accurately describes all the particles and interactions that make up our universe — says our universe shouldn't exist. Or at least, the matter that makes up all the stuff in existence shouldn't be here. It should have been wiped out by the matching antimatter that was created with it in the first second after the Big Bang. And unless we're all part of some universe-wide delusion, that's clearly not right."

You are right, no big bang and more we look the more complicated it all gets.

I wonder how many 'flat earthers' actually believe it. There's a fair chance that it's mostly trolls.

I cant offer any evidence however I get the impression humans have a desire to belong and that desire may well override their need for truth.
Again I cant offer evidence but I think many church goers go to satisfy a need to belong and I suspect in some cases have no faith.
Maybe it is similar for flat Earthers.
Maybe it is like teenagers going to church to meet girls.
I suspect they may enjoy stirring folk up as well.
At least matbe for the first time someone takes notice of them.
Just like kids may do outrageous things to be noticed...
Or artists who make art by crossing religious boundaries and receive attention not so much for their art but for the outrageous act of painting a bible or the like.
It probably has to do with the need to belong and the need to feel special.
Personally I cant understand either ...I dont want to belong or be special ..I just want to be normal...whatever that is.

Pretty obvious that it's an astro-turfed conspiracy theory... Mockingbird two point oh, if you will.

I'm mostly surprised that it gained any traction at all.
But not really surprised that people can not (or will not) aprehend the underlying purpose of the meme.

Nope, far from it. Proven for decades now. The constellations of our ancestors are not the same as today.

Now you seem to be stirring folk up and knowing that you can is perhaps the best reason not to.

And Horoscopes give different readings depending on which country or hemisphere you read them - I generally find "The Courier Mail" predictions to be more comforting than "Waterford Whispers News" - but sadly, the latter tend to me more accurate in my experience:

Australia: http://www.couriermail.com.au/lifestyle/horoscopes
"Even though we like to feel as if we have a good idea of what we're doing, it's often an instinctive assessment, rather than an intellectual understanding that helps us to feel as if we know what's going on. Your intuition is an asset. This weekend, while Jupiter is in your sign, linking to Venus and Mercury (which is energised by the power planet), your insight into a relationship that's been hard to figure out, will enable you to see what's going on. Allow yourself to be guided. There's magic afoot."

Ireland: http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/201...horoscopes-11/
"Screaming ‘f*** this’, you pull your coat up over your head and vanish into the sky, never to be seen again."

Waterford describes every day of my life...

You’ll be alright if the electricity goes out, but if you lose the internet you’re f****d.
