Saturn Feb 24th 2019

Imaged Saturn this morning, Feb 24th, in quite reasonable seeing for the alt. Have more detail than previously on Feb 16th & 21st, the data is getting better as Saturn rises ever higher. Have attached a link to my 685nm-Pass IR animation on the PVOL data base.

Very nice indeed! Love the animation with the moons. Are they real albedo features we're seeing there?

Best

Thanks very much Dave.

Thanks very much Markus. Tethys & Enceladus showed up faintly at the exposure & frame rate I used for Saturn, In the instance of the frames used in the animation I just used a mask for the moons, increasing the exposure for just the area inside the mask. This made the moons bright enough to be more easily seen. To do the moons properly a data set would be required with the exposure set for the moons, not Saturn. Saturn would be way overexposed. Processing such data would be a true representation of the moons relative to the limits of the telescope and imaging train combination. My obsession is atmospheric structure & phenomena on Saturn so I never put much effort into the moons.
