So it's back to the future with Donald

Reported that Big Rocket Man (a.k.a. Donnie) has just signed an executive order reconvening the National Space Council after 25 years - with VP Pence in the top chair. First stop will be the Moon, so he says. With warm bodies and all!!

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/s...oon-pence.html

Wonder will never cease.

Remember Marie Antionette - when told the peasants were starving is said to have responded "Let them eat cake". In a variation on that theme, Donnie has decided there's nothing quite like a good distraction to divert people's minds away from problems at home.

Pence is an evangelical cretin who believes the world is less than 10,000 years old. He certainly does not support space exploration. As you said, this is nothing but an attempt to distract away from domestic issues with the administration.

This is not really worth discussing, he is a very strange man that could and would do much damage.
He and his Rocket mate are equally stupid.

Such a self promoter.

Have you heard about his fake Time magazine cover which he displayed at his golf resorts? The best example of his ego.

Perhaps we can make him King of Luna (the Looney King) and send him there to live.

Just what NASA need though, a place that they can lose funds too. But NASA is tarnished for Donald because other presidents who aren't him have been involved with it.

“We will return American astronauts to the moon, not only to leave behind footprints and flags, but to build the foundation we need to send Americans to Mars and beyond,” Mr. Pence said during a meeting of the National Space Council."

Space junk....

Are you suggesting that is all I am good for???

If so my head will swell as that means I am good for something.

I see a whole new arm to the Military Industry, which eventually hands down to the masses, which make no mistake we form part of those "masses", the wonderful spin offs that we can use..for example glad wrap started life as a protectrant for military aircraft on air craft carriers...probably the most wonderful invention of all time...I had a client who made a fortune inventing the hot wire to cut it and all sorts of wonderful sealing tools to go with the hot wire...useful stuff.

After battle stars are the norm and we have a fleet and collectors start gathering the old ones the military sold off and well old battle stars get in the hands of handy folk ...well someone will start to run tours and then we will need special "stars" ones we build that house farms to take advantage of presenting cost saving but expanding the enterprise.

And who could speculate and cover the long term unexpected benefits.

I think Mr Trump will like it... you need something spectacular if you are going to grab the publics attention.

If only Ron Paul had become president....not sure if he would pursue a renewed space program but at least the American economy would be in better shape for future endeavours . One of the wisest and most genuine politician I have seen, the Americans missed an opportunity there.
