True South on the Gold Coast

Gold Coast
Latitude: 28° 0' 0" S
Longitude: 153° 25' 60" E
Magnetic Declination: +11° 16'
Declination is POSITIVE (EAST)
Inclination: 58° 2'
Magnetic field strength: 53361.6 nT

So is this:

180°+11° = 191° (True North is 11°)
or
180°-11° = 169° (True North is 349°)

Cheers

CADET...

Compass Add East = True

Alternatively, if you have a smart phone with GPS, download a free compass app & set it to true bearings...

Which free compass app allows you to set it to True?

I use Compass 360 Pro on an android phone...

The free version has ads but, for the short time I use it for setting up it doesn't bother me...

To get it to display true bearings, enable GPS on your phone, go into app settings and select GPS & True North...

Thanks, the 2 compasses I was using couldn't be altered to have True settings. I found Digital Compass by Axiomatic Inc. and this can show "True Heading", and when comparing this to what I thought was probably right, I found that 180°-11° = 169° for True South and it shows as 349° for True North.

Cheers
