Great image Mike, a saturated Moon is always nice. And thanks for the article, as far as I recall it's essentially how I did my coloured Moon image as well. Maybe it's time for another...

I'm trying to have a go at this Mike.
Took the Raw images, but when i convert them to TIFF i get and error with Registax 5.1 that there is not enough memory.
What Bit were your TIFFS 8 or 16 ?

Thanks

Stu

How many files are you trying to import into Registax?

I used 16 bit TIFF's.

How much RAM does your computer have?

Try converting to jpeg and see if that works. Not ideal, but it might start ruling some things in or out.

I tried everything from 3-50 Tiffs
8 Bit Files around 50 mb each
16 Bit Files around 100mb each
and even Jpegs at 3 Mb each

3 GB of Ram, running Windows 7

Tried Registax 3 , 5.1 and 6

Gutted

Stu

That's strange. Try a few 800x600 jpegs. Do you still have the problem then?

My 16 bit TIF's are about 57mb each.

I tried some Jpegs this morning after a computer restart, worked fine.
So I'll try the Tiffs again tonight after another restart and see how we go. Could just be my memory was full

Thanks for the help Mike

DIYPhotography have featured my article on their site:

I've only just discovered DIYPhotography site - it's got some great stuff on there. Worth checking out.

Moon in colour

Here is my humble attempt.

Using my LX90 8" ACF with a Lepus 0.62x focal reducer. Using the Canon 1100D at prime focus, I captured images at ISO 100 and 1-125s. The best 27 were selected with Regisrax. Post-processing done in Photoshop.
