My M42 image taken from the Snake Valley Astro Camp.
10" reflector on a split ring mount.
Nikon D7000 unmodified, prime focus. 5 x 30 seconds at ISO 2500

Great image of M42 you have, well done.
Ive been trying to get this target as well, it a good image to learn on.
Its the processing that is so complicated.
Today iwas having a play in an app called Snapseed and press one button called "HDR Scape" and a totally different image just popped out.
I tried it on your image (hope you dont mind) and all the cloud just popped out and the core was less exposed.
It has normally taken me hours to do the same thing but never quite getting there.

Hi Andy. I agree, processing is the tricky bit. The resulting change you made makes for a more detailed image. Have to try it out.
