Gentle train ride through the countryside

Yesterday we took a nice train ride through the Japanese countryside, from Kyoto to Tokyo. Where I live (Townsville), trains are only used for coal, various ores, and pensioners using their $5 to anywhere concession ticket. Needless to say, I've never been attracted to, or dependant on rail travel.

Anyway, this "little engine that could" (Nozomi N700), got a little brisk a few k's out of town. I whipped out the phone and took some GPS measurements (pic attached). Leg room was double the Jetstar allowance, and overall took the same time as a plane. No stripsearches and x-ray bs is a plus too. The view of Mt Fuji must be seen 1st hand (photos just don't do it).
