Centaurus A

Another trip to a dark sky site in the Flinders Ranges last weekend.

Being a Pom, I have to have a whinge. Wind and cloud got in the way. As well as some guiding issues I've already whinged about here.

All I managed in 4 nights was 5 hours of data, and some of that not great

Image is 3 hours of luminance and a tad over 2 hours of RGB with a ZWO ASI1600MM-C on an RC8 (reduced to f/6) + EQ6.

Higher res available on Astrobin here.

Comments welcome.

Regards,
Paul

That's really fine! You've got the bright blue hot young stars at top right of the meat pattie; you've got the dusty Superman symbol just below the central dust lane; both are crisp and clear. Good colour too. A very fine result for 5 hours, and worth the anguish and heartache.

Thanks Mike and Trish. Yes, a frustrating weekend but nice to get something out of it. Struggling to see any Superman symbol though!

Thanks Rick. I'd be disappointed if I had nothing to complain about!

There is a lot of detail and the colours are great. May not have as much data as you’d have liked but you’ve used this data well!

Stunning tight star field and central spiral remnant.
But the egg of the main elliptical has a brown tinge on my monitor instead of an egg of whitish stars.

Perhaps that can be handled in processing? Other than that its a winner.

Greg.

The Superman "S" is very tiny. It is exactly in the centre of the attached.

Thanks Greg. I'll have a look and see what I can do.

Greg: Did a bit of a colour tweak here.
Not sure that's enough. A bit better perhaps??

Or this one?

Thanks,
Paul
