SN 2017 cbv

Hi All

There is a bright supernova (SN 2017 cbv) in NGC 5643 in Lupus. It was discovered on March 10th at around 16th magnitude but has brightened considerably since then. On March 23.62 UT I estimated visually as mag 11.4 and would be easy to see even in a 6"telescope. The AAVSO has a good chart for NGC 5643 with a range of comparison stars.

Regards
Andrew

SN mag 11.2

Looked at NGC 5643 last night with a 12" Dob and an 11mm EP at 135 times.
The SN was mag 11.2. I compared it with two nearby stars mag 11.2 and 11.4.
