ZWO ASI 071 upgrade

To all those who bought a ZWO ASI 071. ZWO is now doing an upgrade to the 071 Pro.

No more dew issues and a large DDR3 256MB buffer to reduce amp glow.

It's rather expensive. US $300.
There should be no "amp glow" if your computer has usb3. Its only am issue with usb2.
And no dew problems with a proper cooling sequence

I’m getting mine done and it sounds like quite a few others are as well.
I also add to the USB traffic with 2 focusers and possibly a guide camera so I don’t think it will hurt having the buffer plus the other mods.
Cheers
Rod

Okay. Give us some before and after shots ! Maybe just some darks or bias frames to see how it affects the amp glow. And then running into a usb2.

Must say glad to hear upgrades to a better design are offered. Just spoke to Bintel after reading this and I think I will take up their offer even though I use USB3 connectivity. To me a better design is worth having - now I just have to start using the thing!

Hi,
got a new ASI071 Pro, and tried it for the first time last night. No amp glow I can see running in to usb3. Dark current looks low enough not to need darks (tried 300sec exposures at unity gain, -15C). -15 was maintained at 22% power. Think ambient was about 10C...

Looks like a nice camera...
