Hi

only got parts of a couple of clear nights for this, but the skies were pretty transparent, so that helped. Used bin2x2 for the colour, to fit into the short available time - seemed to work OK.

It is a really pretty object but there is a wide variety of approaches to the colour on the web - ended up just letting PI do it's thing.

Everything about that shot is beautiful. Flawless colour. Sharp detail right into the core. Several clean super-faint distant galaxies. Most enjoyable viewing.

Best,
Mike and Trish

That's a great shot there Ray! It is on my current list of no moon galaxies, you've given me something to strive for :-)

Very nice work Ray This is one of my favorite galaxies! With the right field of view and processing (like yours) it's a jewel floating on a sea of background galaxies. Lovely!

Just repeating what everyone else has said in case you didn't get the message - beautiful image Ray.

Thanks Aidan - the binning worked out better than expected, but the seeing was pretty good. Previously I have tried to bin the colour in crap seeing and it hasn't worked so well.

Thanks Marcus. That's a neat way to describe it - it is a very jewel-like galaxy. It would probably be more lustrous looking with more data, but this was as much as I could get.

Lovely work Ray! I have the same scope, and the same sensor (on a QHY) - something to which I can aspire in the future!
