ZWO EAF problem

I bought my EAF here on IIS a while back, and have only just tried setting it up on my ED80 Crayford focuser.

I cannot get the EAF to rotate at all, on or off the scope, is there supposed to be any manual rotation of the shaft? With or without power?

I'm supposed to be able to manual focus even when the EAF is installed but I cannot get any rotation at all?

Any and all advice will be appreciated!

I don't have the ZWO EAF I have the Pegasus focus cube, without power to the motor nothing will turn.
I can't manual focus without undoing the shaft connect, but then lies the issue of the EAF having different values in relation to the position on the focuser.

This is for the EAF hopefully there is some use in there.

Thanks Karl, my problem is with my ZWO EAF unit, I have no knowledge of other brands.
Searching the internet, I get the impression I should be able to manual focus with the EAF unit installed.
Indeed, it is suggested that during setup, that you must do a manual focus before the EAF does the auto focusing?

"Your EAF is able to be manually controlled and there are two ways
to achieve this. One is via the optional hand controller and secondly
via the astronomy software package in use."

So I gather this means that you can focus manually through the EAF. i.e. there's no clutch release where you can turn the focuser knob.

Have a look through the manual here: https://astronomy-imaging-camera.com..._Manual_EN.pdf

I do manual focus but use a program to move the focuser, then I do the auto focus routine. I think that's what they are getting at, then you can set your limits properly otherwise it can rack out or in to the limit of the focuser and possibly wreck the motor.

Thanks Karl, you are correct, I'll have to do some more tinkering!
I also got advice from a member of the Cloudy Nights forum saying EAF effectively blocks manual focusing to prevent drawtube slippage.
Thanks again.

Yes you can't physically move the focuser without power and the hand controller or software connection. And you will screw it up if you force it

Thank you David, have managed to get it working when connected directly to my laptop, but having no success at all connecting via ASIAIR.
In fact at the moment ASIAIR is refusing to connect both my ASI224MC camera and the EAF.
Any suggestions?
Chris
