Raymo, thanks for the sentiment but it's all good.
I have enormous respect for Dr.Malin and I'm sure he's chosen some crackerjack images for the DMA this year (probably a good few from here on IIS) and I'm looking forward to seeing them too
Some stats about the incredible reach of APOD, so far this image has been shared 661 times globally on Facebook, with over 2,200 likes.
On Google+ it was shared over 50 times with 395+ likes.
That's a bit overwhelming for a backyard imager like me to comprehend, but it sure demonstrates that people love looking at our deep space images
I did enjoy this quote from the Asterisk forum...
