Suitable focal extender

Hi guys,

I've been contemplating a focal extender for my WO FLT98 in order to get a little bit closer to Jupiter and Saturn while observing, as well as imaging the Moon.

However, I'm also wondering if I'll be able to use it for imaging DSOs to see a bit more detail close up (for example - M16) but I'm unsure of the limits at 98mm of aperture and what it will mean for exposure times.

Would something like a 2x powermate be suitable or could I go a bit beyond that to 3x maybe? Or should I be going down a different path entirely?

Any thoughts or suggestions people might have would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Bret

I would use an extender on planets but not DSO's.
