Annular Solar eclipse of April 29, 2014
Anyone else already getting excited about this one? I think down here in Moe, Gippsland we'll get just over 50% coverage.

I'm in Moe, which is just down the road from Traralgon. Estimated view should be as per the link. I'd be happy with this!

Many thanks for a hugely useful & (to me) hitherto unrecognised astro resource: I thought they only did Time & Date stuff, but I'm clearly wrong!

See Xavier's page. You need to be in Antarctica to get more than a partial.
Click on the map to get a local prediction.

Anywhere in Vic should be pretty good, but I'm even pleased with NSW's prospects, weather permitting. A sunset partial is as good as partials get, aesthetically . It doesn't really matter whether it's 30 or 50% at time of sunset.

Yep! -am looking forward to catching the partially eclipsed Sun set over Port Phillip Bay here.
A nice way to finish off an astronomically busy April!

Annular Solar eclipse of April 29, 2014
Any shot of a partial at sunset is worthwhile,
Picked my observing spot already

Hi all, can anyone advise on some possible spots in sydney which has a largely unobstructed view to the west? I know it's hard because of a the buildings. Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Mike

Can you be a bit more specific than "Sydney"? CBD? Eastern suburbs? North side? North-west? ...

Argh sorry I should have been specific. Eastern suburbs and inner west would be the best for me.. I am going to meet a couple of friends in Newtown and we may go to sydney park, but if there are better locations I'm happy to go.

Might be worth keeping an eye on when the back edge of the front clears the western horizon of Melbourne. Probably only a very small chance of catching some eclipse (better from W suburbs, Geelong), but not impossible. More likely it'll clear just after sunset...

Been pretty cloudy in Perth but we got glimpses - mine came at the right time for maximum eclipse!
