I seem to recall reading somewhere not so long ago (I can't remember where to be honest) that the 7D's noise was worse than the 40D under the exact same situation. I'll have to dig the link out. The guy had done a pretty comprehensive review.

The electronic dual axis level thing is a winner.

Humayun

David,

My Internet's capped for another 2 hours or so, so, can't view the links just yet.

If the links refute my message, I'm glad to know it!

It may just have been the guy's particular situation. Although, he did go into detail about cramming pixels into the same size sensor.

Cheers.

Regards,
Humayun

When I hunted down reviews of the 7D I came to the conclusion that it was as good or better than other canon camera's WRT noise, except for the 5D II and 1D It is a bit subjective too, houghy's right

I've gone with the 7D because I prefer it over the 50D and is more affordable for me than the 5D II

Roger,

I'd like one, too, as a second body. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Kudos to you.

Humayun
