I was recently given this 105mm Lens by a friend who owed me a few favours.
However, when he purchased it in a new scope many years ago, he was so unhappy with the performance, he brought the newly released 110mm lens, which apparently just screwed onto his tube.
The images never looked sharp, a bit like a not-quite aligned newtonian or SCT. He also complained of sleeks in the lens. He received no satisfaction from the sellor, dating back to the days before Andrews.
I thought I would give it a go of making a B grade scope, and see if I could improve upon. However, my motivation is hampered by the fact that I already own too many scopes and as can be seen, I am in clean-out mode.
Looking at the lens now, I can see scratches on the back lens (from cleaning?/ hope it wasn't sold like this!) Also, I suspect that there may also be spots of mold on the outside of the lens.
This is actually a reasonably heavy item, so it will take some careful packing and the freight will be more than my normal costs.
