DSLR Video

has anyone done any lunar video capturing and processing with the new DSLR video capability, if so what are the impressions?

You can't use the video capture unless you have a lens attached Mick.
I am going to have a go at afocal capture of Jupiter though.

You either need software to capture Live View, I use APT. There is also a 3.5mm connection on most DSLR where you need a USB converter to convert this to USB video stream for capturing. I will be testing this on my next run of imaging because I want to see if Live View quality and speed is the same as the video output.

Not true!
I did this the other day with bad seeing let me dig out the pic.
Here you go.
I think focus was a little off... 1280x720 50fps
1 minute, stacked in registax.

Had a go at jup too but the seeing was way bad by then

Odd! Mine warns me I need to have a lens attached, but once I hit start anyway, it switches to normal record mode and lets me record with another hit of start.

sorry triple J not correct, it will work with adapter connected to telescope.
hi Malcolm, it saves direct to the card and then you can choose to also load it to the computer.

you may get a warning that a lens needs to be attached but ignore it, keep going and all will be fine.
