Leyburn Sunset

Captured last night - the moon, Venus & Jupiter. Panstarrs would be in there somewhere...

Looks lovely, David. Wish I could have been under dark skies last night...

Was a good night Rick, but I had computer trouble and threw in the towel about 1:30am... Hopefully I can put your PI workshop into practice on the data I did collect.

Rather cold - very heavy frost this morning! I let the generator run out of fuel overnight so the heater went cold and my blankets weren't enough. Ordering some bits to redo my electrics, including another battery so I can run an electric blanket overnight in the van.

Gotta love those Leyburn sunsets - especially if there is the promise of a long, dark, clear night

Great pic David
You might be better off with a decent sleeping bag up there in winter rather than blankets?

Thanks Rob,

It was -3.8 that night. Just waiting to see if the battery I want to order comes on special this week (shop has a cyclical special running) and then I'll have all the components necessary to run an electric blanket in the van. Was quite amazed to see they only draw 15-25w on a low to medium setting - definitely doable from a 12V battery and inverter!

Can totally understand your quest for warmth

Still remember what it was like waking up in the dark to turn the gear off few years ago at Leyburn and feeling the crunch of the frost. Thermometer said -4 and the car looked like it had been dipped in sugar frosting. Suspect you've experienced that many times however!

It was the thickest frost I've seen out there on Sunday morning - it had been snowing 100km south at Stanthorpe a couple of days earlier!
