Sky Safari 6 Plus on Android Compass Issue

I've been using Sky Safari 6 Plus for a couple of years. I've just noticed that the Compass feature is no longer working as expected.

It is now showing only a bright white "blob" in the middle of the screen with several white lines "orbiting" the blob. It lists one or two stars and that's all it does.

I've reset to factory and completely reinstalled it but it's still the same.

I posted on their community forum and found I'm not the only one experiencing this. So far the developers haven't responded.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

I'm running sky safari 6 plus on a Samsung Galaxy s8 running Android version 9.

Compass function works fine for me.

On reading the help menu, maybe check you haven't inadvertently set it to orbit around another object?

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks for the advice.

I've just tried that (I've never used the Orbit function before) and unfortunately that wasn't the issue.

Seemed unlikely since I completely reinstalled the app but it was certainly worth a try.

I've now noticed that, if I select Compass mode and hit the "+" button a few times, the app starts using the phone processor resources at an alarming rate. Just about hangs the entire phone. Not a well behaved app.

Thanks.
